Are organic cotton tampons really better?

How organic can you go really? I like the idea of an organic cotton tampon for many reasons. Did you know that our internal tissues are great at absorbing and carrying chemicals throughout the body. Your vulvar tissue is already a very sensitive part of the body, and any synthetic and potentially irritant material can lead to discomfort, rashes, and other irritation as a result of the close skin contact. Some tampons contain chemical fragrances and many conventional tampons contain traces of the chemical dioxin, which is  a known endocrine disruptor that can cause issues with your hormones. They don’t just create imbalances, they also exacerbate fertility issues, thyroid conditions, PCOS, hormonal and cystic acne, thyroid conditions, endometriosis, and even some forms of cancer. The idea of having toxic chemicals in such a sensitive area is scary. Guess what guys! They cost the same as the non-organic tampons too so it will not cost you more to switch over.

I decided to make the switch to organic tampons about 3 years ago and will not be going back. My cramps are not as intense as they were with other brands of non-organic tampons and when I use the organic panty liners they are much more breathable and are not irritating. Check them out for yourself and I bet you wont go back to tampax again.

I have a favorite brand that I use and buy at target for $6.99 (30 count). I love them because they are compact, leak-proof and the plastic applicator is BPA- free. L. is the name of the brand and their Organic Cotton Tampons are made with GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) Certified Organic Cotton. They are also free of chlorine bleaching, rayon, pesticides, fragrances and dyes. They are also sold on Amazon but the price is higher there than it is at Target.

Right now Target has the 60ct on sale for $6.99, regularly priced at $12.99. You can follow this link to get the Regular 30 count for $6.99 at Target and the Multi-pack with Regular and Super absorbency here.  They also have the 30 count of Super absorbency for $6.99 as well. The great thing about buying them at Target is that the 30 counts for $6.99 is their regular price.

You can also head over to the brands website here and create your own subscription bag that is delivered to you once per month. I think thins is really cool to do. Basically what you do is select the tampons, pads or liners that you want in your bag and shipping is FREE over $5. They are very affordable too. Its only $9 to get 10 tampons and 9 pads or you can get liners in there.
